Phoenix Summer School 2011

Venue tbc

This course will introduce the basic concepts developed by Rudolf Laban (1879–1958), providing a logical framework for understanding the core components of human movement. Through performance, observation and analysis, we will explore the dynamics of movement Eukinetics, as well as the spatial organisation and orientation of bodily forms and movements Choreutics. This course aims to sharpen your skills for movement observation in choreography, and teaching as well as to develop your own awareness and range of movement variation – from inner impulse to outer expression. The course will offer a unique opportunity to further and develop your practice through technique, improvisation, and choreographic exploration, drawing on a range of Laban's principles and practice.

Physical Literacy Conference

The University of Bedfordshire is to host a conference on Physical Literacy at Putteridge Bury Conference Centre. The conference is designed to build from the seminar and workshops held in 2008 and 2009, to discuss developments, hear from those working in the field and to consider the way ahead. There will be opportunities to read papers, to present posters, to be involved in themed discussion groups and to hear from eminent speakers on topics that inform the concept of Physical Literacy.
